Stray Bar

Can't argue with the other two reviews. Awesome spot to grab a beer with the pooch.

The bartenders love my dog Sam, and he's only met with dog treat. We live close by on Winfield so this is a perfect excuse to walk the dog and grab a beer in the process.

St Stephens Green Irish Pub

Very cool spot located right along Castro. Tons of outdoor sidewalk seating and they have table service so you don't have to leave the dog every time you want another drink, happened to be fairly regularly with our group.

Started coming here a while back with a group of our dog friends and have loved it ever since. Food is pretty solid and the dogs are there to lap up spilled beer.

Temptations

Really nothing special in the way of dog perks minus the outdoor seating. They had no problem that I had my dog with me, just didn't do anything to make us especially welcome.

The seating area is also a bit cramped and on crowded nights I could foresee dining with a large (over 80lbs) dog a bit of a challenge.

Food was pretty solid, nothing amazing.

Cantankerous Fish

Upfront I should say that I didn't love the food experience, BUT since this about the dogs Cantakerous gets 4 bones. Tons of dog friendly outdoor tables, heaters, and umbrellas for cover. Got the feeling they would have brought a dog bowl out but I never bothered to ask.

Located just off the main strip, if you are a seafood lover it's worth the journey but if not stop off at Cascal before visiting here with the dog.

Bayside Park Dog Park

Awesome dog park. Gets five bones for the doggie timeout area if nothing else. There were a few dogs who were sent to the penalty box while I was there.

Typical dog park stuff beyond that. Pretty social crowd and all the dogs seem to be fairly well behaved. The water is a bonus and the double gated entry helps limit the escapes.

Plaza De Paws

Like Garret D. mentions there is often a cat in the store. Unlike his dog, mine did notice and felt the break out a lesson of the hierarchy scale.

Still a great shop, friendly service and pretty good pricing. Located on a few dog friendly shopping/dining strip. Make sure to stop by next time you are in the downtown area.

Petsmart

Eh, they have everything you need but also the service you'd expect from a 17 year old who can't wait to go on break. Prices to tend to be lower than some of the smaller pet stores but I'd rather spend a few more dollars for service. It is a fun place to take the pup though, really the equivalent of Toys-R-Us for dogs.

Shoreline Dog Park

Great dog park facilities. Separate big and small dogs areas. Water fountain with water bowls and a covered picnic table in the large dog section.

Knocking off one bone for the crowd, just doesn't seem to be super social. You talk with some nice folks but not the dog park "social scene" I've found at others.

Danny Coyle's

Went here last Tuesday because I heard the place was dog friendly. Had never really considered taking the dog to the bar since he's on the larger size but it was great. There were dog other dogs there so I grabbed a beer and Frank was able to get some dog social time.

They even gave Frank a treat, not sure if that was a special thing or if they always have them on hand. I would avoid going on a weekend night with the dog though, could see that getting tricky with the crowds.

Spike's Coffees & Teas

Coffee and dogs, what more could you want. I stop by this place on my way to work and there are always tons of dogs outside. Ask for a treat for your pooch and give him a drink from the water bowl while you grab your morning coffee fix.

If your dog isn't super dog friendly use caution as stopping by Spike's can be like going to a dog park.

All and all a great local spot to kick back, read the paper and hang with the pup.

Sports Basement

Come here at least 1/week. My tri club is always doing events with Sports Basement and it's awesome that I don't have to leave Baily at home.

The layout of the store is huge so you don't have to worry about your dog knocking clothing off the rack and the staff is usually very excited for the distraction. The SPCA is right around the corner too!
