Nice, friendly place, but very busy. I was carrying my girlfriend's dog one time, because I assumed the worst, and Phil was like, "put that dog done, she's welcome here!" Win!

Citipets
Nice, convenient, locally-owned pet supply store for folks in West Portal. I happened to stop by one day, and the owner was very knowledgeable and friendly. She even had some foods they discontinued at Jeffrey's because of concerns over by-products.

One of the best places in San Francisco if you want to pamper your pet! Nice staff. Can be a little pricy.

Lone Palm
Nice, small bar. A few of the bartenders are dog owners and sometimes bring their dogs along for their shift. Be advised that some nights it can get VERY crowded, so it may not always be the best place to chill with your pooch.

San Francisco SPCA
I've been using the veterinary services here for the last 8 years, both regular check-ups and emergencies, and I've been very happy with the services provided. I always recommend researching pet health issues, and ask lots of questions.

Petco
Tried the new location at the mall, and it feels claustrophobic, like the space is smaller, and I'm not that crazy about the organization. You will definitely have to ask for help if you're looking for something specific.

Jeffrey's Natural Pet Food Company
My favorite pet food places in San Francisco. Not cheap, but that's what you get when you buy real meat! The staff is always friendly, and helpful, and there are samples available from time to time. They sometimes have specialty biscuits for different season and holidays.

El Rio
Fantastic bar south of Cesar Chaves. THey do lots of animal group fundraisers. If they're not doing a fundraiser, you can quickly bring your dog into the roomy backyard!

500 Club
This is a really dog friendly bar. There's a water dish close to the back, and sometimes they'll pull dog biscuits out of a secret hiding place to give a treat to your dog!
