C. J. Norton, D.V.M.
Wow, here you have a Veterinarian who makes HOUSE CALLS. She has been doing this for quite some time, along with finding it extremely rewarding.
Her hours of operation are 7 days a week from 7am-7pm. How easy is that to remember; 7,7,7.
You just never know when your local doctor is not open or not in; or maybe you're an out-of-towner.
This is one contact to add to your Rolodex and phone.

Walk This Way (Canine Behavior Therapy)
Yes, Canine Behavior Therapy says it all. They offer many classes both in groups and individual, as well as in Brooklyn, Queens, etc.
The website and brochure really explain fully what they have to offer for both the doggies and humans.
There is even the potential for telephone consultations, yet in person with your 4 legged friend is best.
They offer classes and seminars to further assist us 2 legged friends with our 4 legged friends, together to blend within our communities.

Sarah Westcott, CPDT-KA
Sarah is very in-tune to both the 2 & 4 legged animals. She offers both group lessons as well as private lessons.
Check out her website, and she has a blog as well. She's a Certified professional Dog trainer, & a member of APDT.

Your Spoiled Pets
They were at the Brooklyn Mutt Show in Park Slope, Brooklyn the weekend of 3/13-3/14th.
The folks were very knowledgeable to answer any and all questions one had.
They provide daycare, boarding, dog walking, and much more. I suggest checking their website to confirm and find out all their services they provide.
They seem to be very competitive with their prices. I believe they are located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Monster Mutt, LLC
They were at the Brooklyn Mutt Show the weekend of 3/13-3/14, here in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
The folks were extremely friendly. They were more than eager to share their services with everyone.
It seems they have daycare, boarding services. As well as classes & seminars for us 2 legged folks to be with our 4 legged folks.
They even have sibling discounts-check their website for further details or call.
The Monster Mutt staff have impressive credentials, but more important; they really care about our 4 legged tail waggers.
They are located in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn

Seaview
This Hotel is about 15 minutes outside of Atlantic City. After booking a room, did we realize that this is the same Hotel that Grace Kelly had BOTH her sweet 16 party, and her engagement party at.
The staff were all very attentive to our needs along with our four legged beauty in tow. They were helpful in advice, assistance with doggie bags, and so much more.
We had an event that had taken place at the Atlantic City Convention Center, and the Seaview was close enough for us, and most important-they allow dogs. We saved money by bringing the 4 legged beauty instead of boarding them at home.
The food and views were wonderful. The staff were equally wonderful. Such a bonus that they allow dogs. All added up and we would return at a later time to just enjoy the area more.

Let's Pet
Michelle, the owner/operator is super friendly. She is very helpful and has loads to share about dogs.
She works via appointments. The place is a lovely grooming & boutique. She offers many varied items for the little one.
Well worth the trip and the attention to both you and your doggie is a warm welcome these days.

Prospect Gardens Pharmacy, Inc.
Prospect Gardens Pharmacy has been around for what feels like forever in the neighborhood. They are right at the corner of 7th Avenue & Union Street.
They are a local store that has what you need and will give you the attention you need. They remember you by name.
I was in the other day, and a mother and daughter were in with their large black dog. Oh my gosh-one of the staff was quick to offer a dog treat to that huge 4 legged customer.
During the warmer months they have a cold water dish of water for the 4 legged friends outside. Along with throughout the year-dog treats to be had.

Pets Emporium
Yes, this place is small in size, and huge on service. When in the Heights-they have it beat. It feels as though they have been around for so long.
They have a varied selection of items to choose from. Their customer service is wonderful and friendly. They go beyond the extra mile to help/assist you. It seems that they do truly care about what they service.

Petco
It's a Petco, what more can you say?!
This location has two floors, with a vast selection of items for doggies and other pets.
They have books, food, toys, and so much more to choose from. The concern is: in getting someone to assist you and with enough knowledge to believe.
If all you are doing is browsing and know exactly what you want/need-then this type of store is the place. Whether prices are as good as some local stores, that is a question.

79th Street Boat Basin Cafe
I can only relate to when I did not have my dogie with me. This place is so great, right by the water. They have several places to dine with catered areas as well.
At the time, I did not pay attention to the designated areas for us to bring our dogs to dine with us. If the service is anything like the Summer, then they are wonderful with dogs also.
The food is decent and fast enough as you are enjoying the waterfront views of the river. All the sailboats and other boats running up and down the river.
Bring sunglasses for the sunset time. The beautiful array of colors to be had as the sun sets before you with your drink in hand.
I will have to bring my doggie with me the next time from Brooklyn to get the full experience of dining with my dog in toe.

Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn
I'm sure the inside of the Holiday Inn is pleasant enough, I've been in the lobby to drop off some literature for business.
Although, the exterior is close enough to the (R) subway, maybe half a block walk. From there you can walk up the hill towards Park Slope-where the real action of niceness is had.
The block that this Holiday Inn is located...let's say you would want to have your dog with you.
Benefit of the doubt here: the neighboring storefronts are a couple of body shops, folks with their harleys & home made souped up cars (front tires are regular sized, while the rear wheels are huge), an empty fenced lot that housed a rental place, a huge warehouse-like building for sale.
(depending upon the season-you'll find some kids out later than they should be, playing, some guys smoking and chatting; they could give off the impression of being scary)
Overall, NOT in the heart of Park Slope. Just on the other side of the border, with their rates being on the slightly expensive side-for what you have as views from any window. But-if they are dog friendly, then something to consider.

Woofs'n Whiskers
The owners are so welcoming. The space is large. The facility is well run and prices are on par with other places of the same.
They have pick-up and drop-off services (check their website for details).
We have used them so many times before we stumbled upon a couple of other places that are much closer to our home.
We highly recommend them, and if we didn't come across some others closer to home-we'd be using them all the time. Yet, we have them as back up if the other place is booked solid.

Washington Park (Park Slope) Dog Run
The dog run is next to Washington Park, where the Old Stone House is located. The dog run is behind the Novo Condo building.
They have 2 fenced areas, 1) for smaller dogs, 2) for larger dogs. They have gravel. So wear jeans you don't care about being dirty.
I have gone several times. Both my Teacup Poodle and Jack Russell have enjoyed themselves.
There has been more dogs within the larger dog area. We like to walk our little 4 legged friends before going to the dog run, making it more enjoyable and fun for all.

4 A Tail
I've been in the store a few times searching for certain items for my doggie. They just didn't have what I was looking for, yet the other local stores did carry what I was seeking.
They seem to be well stocked with varied items for the doggie and other pets as well.
I would say-they just do not stand out from the crowd for me along 7th Avenue, as I pass them on my way to the Post Office and other errands.
12/10 7:43pm
Pet Boutique & Supply
they are eager to assist you. I've been searching for a wee wee pad holder that is not in several parts to put together and take apart. They are there to order or make it happen for you.
12/10 7:38pm
Pup Slope
The window display has the cutest little puppies, if you didn't already have a dog you'd want one then.
They are well stocked with varied items for the doggies. In addition to selling puppies, they also have grooming in the back.
I was slightly disappointed some months back when I was exploring a certain type of leash, and they didn't quite know what I was talking about, yet some other local pet stores did. Knowing this was the only experience in needing assistance, there is the benefit of the doubt.
I have gone in several times since, and they are always eager to assist you.
12/9 4:41pm
Animal Kind Veterinary Hospital
There is so much that can be said for them. Between the regular mailings to remind us of our little teacup poodle & jack russell, with the attentiveness to the doggies' visits.
To the scary part of the teacup having to be rushed for a broken leg or the seizure that was a touch and go situation-they were there to ease the tension we felt.
Or the rat poison the jack russell had eaten and rushing to the emergency room-they were thorough with her and also eased our tension about the doggy.
Their rates are decent and fare; their attention from the waiting room all the way through to the doctors' they all are dedicated.
12/7 2:12pm
Top Dog Shop
They have recently renovated the place. I suggest checking their website for further details.
They are always helpful and eager to assist in whatever your needs are for your doggie.
They have special dietary foods and regular foods for the doggy.
12/7 1:58pm
Pet NYC
They had moved into a larger space, the other location was just a block away.
They are a very nice neighborhood store that has been around for some time. The vast amount of food & toys, etc. selections is massive.
What they may not have in stock, ask and they could order it for you.
Treats for the doggies and even in the past-Christmas photo with your pet. Check to see if they still do it again this year.
There are most often pets bringing their owners into the store.
12/7 1:48pm
Brooklyn Wine Exchange
(They just opened on the 1st of December)
Oh, and they are next door to a Trader Joe's.
The marble floor, with exposed brick with its clean lines make it very nice. They have a sign on the window stating they love dogs.
The service is very nice and attentive. They are eager to assist you with any selection about wines.
Did I say they are dog friendly? They are indeed.
12/5 4:16pm
Red, White, & Bubbly
many of the staff have dogs themselves. they are quick to offer treats to the little ones on leashes.
be mindful, they have many displays with bottles. along with having sample sips/tastings-thus cheese is only for the 2 legged customers.
12/5 4:11pm
7th Avenue Wine & Liquor Co.
by chance we were waling the doggy and out to get some wine, at the same time, entered the 7th avenue wine shop-pleasantly surprised that they are dog friendly.
everyone has the little ones on a leash. the staff are quick to say hello the the little ones, and to offer a treat. sometimes for a trick, like sit fido.
wine selection is also great along with the service to both 2 & 4 legged customers alike.
12/5 4:02pm
Brooklyn Dog House
they have 2 kennels or separate areas for dogs. one for large dogs, another for smaller dogs.
the staff is very friendly and attentive to both the 2 and 4 legged friends.
we have had to board our doggies due to travel plans-they were great. we've also had to board for daycare-also they were great.
their rates are really great for both daycare and boarding. ask about if they have discounts if you board more than one dog in your household.
for the boarding, bring a toy for the dog, and if there are any diets or special food or treats you would want the staff to give your little one.
12/5 3:51pm
Trader Joe's
even though city regulations state no dogs allowed with food, the staff at trader joe's seems to welcome and potentially look the other way unless too many customers were to complain about the four legged friends joining in the shopping experience.
there are times folks will tie up the dogs on the post outside, other times, a friend will sit in the vestibule with the doggy.
12/5 3:43pm
The Community Bookstore
the community bookstore's owner has a couple of dogs of her own. weather permitting-water dish is always on the ready. uncertain about dog treats, unless only on Halloween.
12/5 3:31pm
Prospect Park
1) overall being able to have your dog off leash is so wonderful. they are able to run and play with other dogs. a joy to witness so many dogs all harmoniously playing together off leash.
2) like sized dogs tend to run together. you know-small with small, med with med, large with large.
3) check their website or follow them on twitter for events like certain saturdays they host "coffee barks".
