Peet's Coffee & Tea
This Peet's swings hot and cold re: their pet policy. For a gazillion Sunday mornings we sat inside with Josie on our laps but then one Sunday a lady who I assume was the manager had a freaking stroke.
We now take our money and our dog across the street to Whole Foods where they warmly welcome dogs and let us happily sit with our lattes and newspapers on Sunday morning.
Note: Peet's coffee is terrific but since this is a dog site, I'm reviewing the location with my dog mom glasses on.

Costco
What's not to love about Costco? They have the best prices on produce and meats. Just expect it to be crazy crowded and deal with it.
This location is pet friendly. The greeter said no problem with bringing Josie Poodle in to shop as long as she was in the cart or in her bag. Not sure if they'd be the same way with a 70 lb German Shepherd but purse pooches are fine.

Polly Ann Ice Cream
My coffee rocky road had freezer burn. My hubby's ice cream had big chunks of ice. My poodle's cone was perfect.
We come here only so our dog can get a free "doggy cone". They take the end of the broken sugar cones and make a little tiny cone of soft serve ice cream for the pooches. Adorable.
The ice cream you can buy at Safeway is better and usually without the freezer burn. Suggest sticking to soft serve like they give the dogs.
It gets three bones because parking is easy and they're so nice when you order the dog cone.

Mission Creek Dog Park
*Small dog parents* - this park does not have separate sides for big and small dogs so your little 7lb pup is in the same area as a 70lb one.
Look at the dogs playing BEFORE you ever enter the park. If there are all pit bulls and retrievers, keep on walking. Not that these breeds are bad but there is a risk that your pup will be trampled during their play. I know this first hand with my little poodle.
Sometimes we get lucky and there are mostly small dogs or we schedule a play date for a certain time (usually Fridays at 2pm) for little dogs.
I personally think weekends are the worst time to come because there are more visitors than nearby resident dogs. This is when I've seen the intact, aggressive males.
As soon as the 2nd & Beale Street dog park opens in June 2011, I'm saying adios to this place. The new park will have separate sides for big and little. Yay!

Panera Bread
While I love Panera's food, I'm reviewing this with a poodle mom hat on so I can only give 3 stars at most. Seating is right on the sidewalk for 2 people. You must tie up your dog outside when you go inside to order. That's fine for big dogs but I can't see a toy poodle from inside. We only come here when I'm with my hubby or a friend. Too much anxiety otherwise.

The Creamery
Nice place to come for coffee, salad or sandwich in nice weather only. Prices are expensive - $12 for a cellophane wrapped sandwich. Really? Coffee is decent.
Dogs have to be left outside tied to a chair or table. That's fine for a retriever but when service is slow and I'm standing in line forever, I'm worried someone will make off with my toy poodle.

Safeway
Totally dog friendly. We've been shopping here for months and I'm happy to report that I've never seen a poorly behaved dog or a leg lifting incident.
Love that I can do all my shopping in one location without having to leave Josie poodle at hope.
Love! Love! Love!

Whole Foods Market
Once you get past the overpriced but delicious salad bar, the prices are not that bad given the excellent quality and super nice staff. $1.99 wine - hello! 50% off bin - hello!
Well behaved dogs on a leash are welcomed. Not sure if they want that publicized but it's such a great thing for neighborhood shoppers. I hook Josie to the cart and we get our shopping done. Well, I try to shop while she tries her best to attack the hot food bar.

Westfield Center
This is my favorite place in bad weather. Dogs are totally welcomed except sometimes in the food court. Some security guards have come up to pet Josie and said nothing while others demand to know if she's a service animal.
Is it pricey? Duh...it's right in the middle of a major urban tourist district so yeah prices are jacked up but we come to window shop.
Consider it a great little oasis for dog parents living in SF.

Iron Cactus
I had the chicken salad and hubby had the chicken mole with chips and guacamole for an appetizer. Service was fast; food was decent; and, dogs are welcomed on the back patio which does have heaters (yay!).
The only con is that there's nothing really memorable about our meals - everything was just ok. I'd certainly go back if I wanted Mexican food on our walk to/from the Mission Bay dog park.
Thankfully I ate with family because I'm not sure what I would have done with Josie poodle when I ordered.
