By George
George has been in the business for 35 years, and it shows. He is VERY skilled at his craft. I took a scruffy and tangled Shih Tzu here for grooming and bathing and George did a fabulous job. The dog came out looking like Madonna.
The prices are reasonable, too.
Book ahead ... this place gets busy.

Animal House
Grace loves this store! She likes to wander into the back (to do some stock-taking, I think). The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Somehow this store manages to compete with the prices of the big guys like Pet Food Express, though heaven knows how they do it. What's more, the Animal House give a lot of time and money to rescue groups.
Grace and I hope you will support this small, local, independently owned place. The little people are struggling right now.

The Body Shop
Grace ALWAYS enjoys a visit to this store. She knows where the secret stash of dog treats are kept.
The staff members are among the sweetest and friendliest of any store in the Castro. Well mannered dogs are welcomed.

Under One Roof
This is more like a visit with friends than a mere shopping experience.
Friendly, intelligent staff and a lorry load of stuff you can't live without ... that's a killer combination.
Grace's one and only complaint is about the quality of the treats.
Milk Bones just don't cut it.

Happy Hounds Massage
Grace wouldn't miss her monthly massage for the world. Shelah seems to know EXACTLY where those sore places are ... and Grace (who usually hates to sit still even for a minute) just lies back and relaxes right into Shelah's healing touch.
Grace recommends a regular massage for all dogs everywhere.
Shelah's charges are very reasonable, and she's at Pet Food Express on Market Street every first and third Saturday of the month. No appointment necessary.

The Atlas Cafe
This is a very relaxed place to hang out with your dog and a newspaper ... and it has one of the most interesting food selections of any cafe in town ... try the yam sandwich or the delicious apple and goat cheese pizza. The prices are unbeatable, too.
This would get five bones if the patio was a smoke-free zone.

Trinity Episcopal Church
How cool is this? A church that invites you to worship WITH your well behaved, well socialized dog!
My dog, Grace, has been part of the congregation at Trinity church for the past two years. She snores through the sermons, doesn't put a nickel in the collection plate, yet she is always welcomed at this inclusive, friendly, loving church.

Park Chow
This is possibly the best restaurant in San Francisco if you want to eat with Fido. The staff are friendly; they offer water and treats for your doggy dining companion, and the patio is heated! The food for human diners is good, too. AND reasonably priced.
My dog and I eat here all the time. We haven't been disappointed yet.
