This used to be a fantastic spot to take your dogs. As other Fido Factor reviews mentioned, it's safe and friendly to off-leash play (and has been that way for years).
But as of today, they are cracking down on the leash laws and ticketing anyone who lets their dog play here. I wrote a letter to the SF Recreation and Parks Department requesting an official off-leash area be set aside in Esprit, but it's going to take everyone banding together. Write letters to SF Recreation and Parks Department / 501 Stanyan St / SF, CA 94117 if you want to do something about it, or if you're lazy, just message me to sign my letter. (How's that for a useful review?)

I'll give this a solid 3, as it's a nice space, clearly a local dog haunt where many folks take their pup for a social scene, and at a guess also not officially approved for that purpose as off-leash. So, minus 1 bone each for no fence (dangerous, regardless of traffic speed a dog can still get away) and no running water.

The park is not fenced off but there is very little traffic, and cars drive relatively slow due to rough roads. Also the park is fairly spacious so dogs have plenty of space to run without being tempted into the street.
I took my dog there at lunch on a weekday and was surprised to find 12 other dogs off leash running around and playing well together.

A great flat park that is never busy, so its easy to let your dog run off leash. There is some barriers to the streets but not all of the way around.
I hope this park gets more popular as some of the new local condo buildings fill up and more dogs move into the neighborhood.

Good-sized flat lawn that is semi-separated by trees in the middle. No fence around the periphery, though there are bushes and shrubs that make it feel more enclosed. There is not much traffic in the area, which is also nice, and everyone lets their dogs off-leash. There is no running water here though.

There isn't a lot going on at this park which makes it a good place to let your dog run off leash. It isn't fenced but the park is large and there isn't much traffic around. No running water here so bring some for your pooch.
I'm giving this park three bones because it could use a few more upgrades (running water, fenced dog run, maybe some kid stuff) and isn't really near anything but if you're a dog lover it is perfect.
