We live just a few blocks away and take our dog there several times a week. It's great. There are both paved paths and dirt trails of varying degrees of difficulty, but not particularly strenuous for the most part. You can access Spring Lake from nearby Howarth Park as well. View from the top of the dam offers nice views. Several restrooms available for the humans and waste bags provided at several locations along the way for the dogs. There is also one doggy water fountain available not far from the campsite area in case you forget water for your 4-legged friend.
