This is a beautiful park, as the other review stated it is very well maintained by the overly attentive staff. I feel like the staff will scold me if I even walk on the grass and do not stay on the asfalt path. The park runs along the mission creek for quite a distance and has some wonderfully appealing shorline for pups who like to explore, but to do that the dog would have to be off leash.
In this neighborhood, there are many many dogs that would use this park as they do the South Beach Harbor park and others (run by the port authority). It is unfortunate that the staff is so overly strict because the only real people that enjoy or use the park are the homeless sleeping in the bushes and the others who just walk through.
I say, let the dogs play and tell the gaurds on thier tricycles to keep an eye on the homeless!

It's funny to me that the photos on this review are of a dog off-leash. This park is strictly on-leash so who ever took these was breaking the park rule, which is actually a City Ordinance.
This park is beautiful and has an off-leash dog area, Mission Creek Dog Park, which has also been reviewed here.
This little piece of scenic paradise is quiet and very well taken care of, however, the dog owners who do not abide by the rules of the park are also often times quite rude to the park staff.
My understanding is that the park is under the purview of the SF Redevelopment Agency. It is not yet part of the City Parks and Rec, something that is obvious once you see how well it is maintained.
The park has 24 hour security which is for everyone's safety yet dog owners let their dogs off leash and ignore the security guards, even the managers of the property get ignored when they ask people to abide by the park (City) rule.
It's just plain rude people.
The park staff are just trying to do their jobs and one should try to understand it from their points of view, but instead I've witnessed blatant and unabashed breaking of the leash rule, verbal abuse of their staff and a sense of entitlement that comes only from the self-righteous.
Nevermind that there are seniors living in the neighborhood who are often frightened of the dogs off-leash, dogs that could very easily trip or push a senior over and cause them to hurt themselves very badly.
And nevermind that the majority of the children in the neighborhood are very small and many of their parents and grandparents feel uncomfortable bringing them outside where they could be run over by a dog, and, god-forbid, something worse. I recently witnessed a dog owner actually get mouthy and obnoxious with a senior who was out with her grandchildren after she asked the man to please put his dog on a leash because it ran up and nearly knocked down all three of them!
The park spaces in Mission Bay are to be enjoyed by all, not abused by some so that the enjoyment by others is limited.
Also, the park is not small. This particular parcel is small but Mission Bay Parks encompassed park spaces the speckle the entire Mission Bay area from Berry Street south to Mariposa St. When development of the area is complete 45+ acres of the redeveloped 299 acres will be park space. Currently the park probably has about a quarter of that 45+ acres complete and open to the public.
BTW - LEASHES ARE THE LAW. THIS LAW IS NOT SPECIFIC TO THIS PARK. IT IS A CITY LAW AND FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY ALL DOG OWNERS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO ABIDE BY THIS LAW. UNLEASHED DOGS ARE OFTEN ALSO UNWATCHED DOGS. UNWATCHED DOGS POOP AND IT DOES NOT GET CLEANED UP. THERE ARE CHILDREN WHO WOULD LOVE TO USE THIS PARK IF NOT FOR THE FEAR OF ROLLING IN DOG POOP.
