Sunol Wilderness is definitely one of the best parks in the East Bay. It has a rich variety of terrain including rolling hills, steep inclines, and wooded ravines. At Sunol you can find a hike for any level of difficulty.
We visited Sunol at the end of April and were surprised at the temps in the 90s. There is no water available in the park so be sure to pack plenty. Also, many of the trails lack shade so be sure to pack sunscreen and check the weather forecast. Finally, be aware that there are cows in parts of the park. Our pup decided to let out of few big barks before I told him that it wasn't a good idea to make the mommy cows angry.
