I found a tumor on the elbow of my 12 1/2 year old golden retriever. My regular vet referred me to this wonderful place. The orthopedic vet was compassionate and thorough and removed Katie's tumor, also performing a skin flap graft from her chest to the joint to close the wound. I thought I might have my girl for another six months more and much to my amazement and delight I had my precious friend for three more years-I am so grateful. The staff here is brilliant. They are open 24/7 but know they do not do routine vet care. It is an emergency hospital and a collection of very talented specialists. Do not hesitate to bring your pet here. The only downside is the challenging parking, though they do have an arrangement with a car repair place around the corner where some indoor and outdoor spaces are available. Especially if you live in the eastern side of SF, away from the other emergency pet hospital on 9th Ave at Irving, you owe it to your pet to have this place bookmarked on your phone in case of emergency. Wow... They definitely do some good work here! They are not cheap and do not have payment plans, though they will work with Care Credit, if you qualify for that. They are open 24/7 for emergencies, which has surely saved countless lives... I've always been satisfied with the care from the doctors and other employees at this business.
Please note: They are specialists, so you can't use them for your normal vet stuff...but if you have something crazy going on or an emergency at night...go to SFVS!

Wish it had been under different circumstances, but this is an exceptional facility, and the staff (Doctors on down) is fantastic. Went in as emergency with my Betsy as she got into something as I left for work one night. I kept calling to check on her from work, not once did anyone get perturbed taking the calls. Then it took me nearly 20 minutes to get out the next morning on her discharge, as everyone working there seemed to come out and give her goodbye hugs!

Great facilties and competent staff. Even though waiting times can be long the level of service is definately worth it.

The vets and personell here are amazing, unfortunately we had to find this out while our dog had cancer and was not long for this world. Over several months and visits to this location, they treated us and our old girl with care and love, especially when it came to the end. I would hate for anyone to go through the same circumstances but everyone there were wonderful.
Like all pet proceedures and meds nowadays the costs here can be overwhelming but how can you not take care of a loved one when they are hurting?
